The Business of Art
OKAY, everyone would love nothing more than to be in their studio creating their work 24/7. But, you also need to network, market and learn some of the basics business skills to assist you in managing your arts business and selling your arts product.

NYFA MARK 08 – Make your Mark in 2008
New program for NYS visual artists
Expand your visibility and focus on the business side of your art practice. Get to know more artists throughout New York State. Join us and participate in MARK. MARK is the New York Foundation for the Arts’ new six month professional growth program for 80-100 visual artists and runs from January to June 2008. It culminates in a weekend retreat for all artists in New York City.
Application Deadline is December 1, 2007.
An info session for MARK will be held on Monday November 5th at 5:30pm at The Tomkins County Public Library at 101 E. Green Street in Ithaca in the Borg Warner Room West.

You Want To Be An Artist? Workshop

Are you curious about making a career out of art? People tell you “don’t quit your day job” or “you’re dreaming!” Join us for this Business of Arts class to help you learn more about this business.
Being an artist is more than just creating your work or craft – you must learn how to protect yourself, sell and be responsible for getting your product to market.
Led by Teresa Vitale, a self-taught artist, has over 20 years of experience creating original, one-of-a-kind faux finishes on a wide variety of surfaces.
Her work can be found in numerous commercial and residential establishments in including Fanny’s Restaurant in Buffalo, NY. She has practiced her craft and lived in the Finger Lakes region for over 20 years.
The cost for the three hour workshop including all the handouts is $20 for PAC members and $30 for non-members.
